A New Face at 2025 Twins Camp?

The Minnesota Twins Fantasy Camp will welcome a new, yet familiar face at the approaching January camp. We’re happy to announce that long time manager of the then Minnesota Twins AAA affiliate, the Rochester Red Wings, Stan Cliburn, will be joining our incredible Pro Staff. Although it’s his first camp, Stan’s face will be familiar to many of our returning campers, as he is the twin brother of long time camp Pro Staff member, Stu Cliburn.

Stan was drafted by the California Angels in the 5th round of the 1974 MLB draft. Following his career in minor league baseball, Stan made his Major League debut in 1980 with the Angels. While his playing career was short, he went on to have an incredible run as a minor league coach and manager. The first 12 years of his coaching career were in the Pittsburgh Pirates, Texas Rangers organizations and with the Arlington Aces – an independent league team in Texas. Stan began his coaching career with the Twins in 2001, and worked with them through the 2008 season. For six of those years, he was joined by brother Stu at Rochester, NY, with the Red Wings where Stan served as Manager and Stu as his pitching coach.

Since leaving the Twins, Stan has continued his managerial career in Independent League Baseball. He has managed the Sioux City, IA, Explorers, the New Britain, CT, Bees and is currently the manager of the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs. This past season, in 2024, Stan celebrated the incredible milestone of 2,000 wins as a manager.

Stan joins our 2025 Pro Staff which will also include: Hall of Fame members, Bert Blyleven and Tony Oliva, as well as Kent Hrbek, Frank Viola, Ron Gardenhire, Jeff Reardon, Gene Larkin, Tim Laudner, Glen Perkins, Tom Brunansky, Al Newman, Jacque Jones, Juan Berenguer, Tommy Watkins, Matthew LeCroy, Dick Stigman, Juan Rincon, Toby Gardenhire, Phil Roof, JC Romero, Stu Cliburn, Milt Cuyler, Devin Smeltzer, Brian Dinkelman and fellow rookie Pro Staff member, Matt Guerrier..

Paul & Joan Smith Announce their Retirement From Twins Camp

With a deep sense of sadness, yet with much appreciation, we announce that Paul & Joan Smith will be very much missed at January’s Camp. Paul’s career at Twins Camp began in 2002 when he traveled to Ft Myers for his rookie experience. Since that time he and Joan have been fixtures at the camp, and his camp experience sparked an entirely new career for Paul in senior baseball. He has played in senior baseball tournaments in the Over 50, Over 60, Over 70, Over 75 and just recently, Over 80’s divisions.

“It was indeed a sad day for the camp and for me personally when we received Paul’s recent call”, commented Camp Director, Stan Dickman. “I shared my rookie year at Twins Camp with Paul back in 2002, and we’ve become great friends over the past 20 plus years. Paul and I have played on several teams together in that time. I’ve told him on several occasions that many of our camp family members point to him as the inspiration that keeps them in the game as they age. Both Paul and Joan will be missed, but we certainly appreciate their decision and thank them for their contributions to the Twins Camp.

Joan has been a regular sight throughout camp week as she shot photos of camp action. Many of those photos made their way into the camp video that Paul produced as a keepsake for camp attendees the past several years.

Twins Camp Partners Again with Max Bats!

The Minnesota Twins Fantasy Camp and one of Minnesota’s premier bat manufacturers, MaxBats, Inc., are pleased to announce that they are again partnering for the 2025 camp to provide campers with an exclusive discount on Max Bats and Equipment.

Beginning Immediately, any camper registered for the 2025 Twins Camp is eligible to place a bat or MaxBat equipment order via a link provided exclusively to our campers. That link is:

Twins Campers Eligible for Rental Car Discount

Again in 2025, we are happy announce that we are again partnering with Enterprise and National Car Rental to provide our campers with a rental car discount of 10% should they wish to rent a car for camp week.

To receive this discount at either the Enterprise or National sites, log on to enterprise.com or www.nationalcar.com and use the Account word TWINS. Campers will need to pick up and return their rentals at the airport.

The Hotel will again be offering round-trip shuttle service from the airport to their property. The Camp will also be offering daily shuttle service for campers from the hotel to the baseball complex.

Twins Camp Championship Games to Again be Streamed With Walsh Media!

The Twins Camp is happy to again announce that our Camp Championship games, as well as the Rookie vs. Pro Staff game will again be live streamed over the internet with our partnership with Walsh Media. Walsh Media is a Twin Cities based communication company that specializes in live streaming local sports activities in the Minneapolis-St Paul area.

The Red & Blue Division Championship games that will be played inside Hammond Stadium on Saturday morning and early afternoon the 11th, as well as the Pro-Camper game on the afternoon of Friday, the 10th, will all be broadcast. This will allow your friends and neighbors to link in and watch the action from Florida live as it unfolds.

Twins Camp Welcomes Back Twins Training Staff Members Again in 2025!

The Minnesota Twins Fantasy Camp is truly a unique experience in many ways – both on and off the field. In addition to Twins Ft Myers Training Supervisor, Chad Jackson and his team, the camp offers a couple of non-traditional training service to our menu.

We’re happy to report that as we go to press, both Kelli Bartley and Nikkie Vanecek will be making their return to camp in January. Kelli is the Twins Massage Therapist and has been a valued member of the training team for the big league club for several year now. She’ll be available at both the clubhouse and the hotel for anyone looking to utilize her services.

Nikki Vanecek

New to the camp in 2024 were the services of Nikki Vanecek. Nikki is an acupuncturist and yoga instructor. Several campers utilized her services and insights last January as well. Nikki provides those same service to the major league Twins.
