Twins Camp 2024 Final Update! – Important Information

Crowne Plaza is Now DoubleTree by Hilton!

A view of the new signage for the DoubleTree by Hilton – Ft Myers, formerly the Crowne Plaza Hotel at the Bell Towers.  The address and phone numbers are the same, just a new affiliation.

In mid December, the Twins Camp hotel headquarters made an important change in it’s affiliation.  The former Crowne Plaza Hotel at the Bell Tower Shops is now the DoubleTree by Hilton – Ft Myers.  As a part of this transition the hotel has been going through some extensive remodeling to many of the common areas of the property.

We wanted to make sure that you were all aware of this change as it has also changed the names on the airport shuttles that service both the DoubleTree and Homewood Suites properties.  At the time of this writing, we were told that the vans would be “re-wrapped” with the new signage on them.  Currently, the former “Crowne Plaza” wrapping has been removed from the white vans and a DoubleTree magnetic sign signifies the hotel vans.  If you’re flying into Ft Myers and utilizing the hotel shuttle service this is critical information.  If you are waiting for the Crowne Plaza shuttles, you may be waiting for quite some time.

New signage for the hotel and Shoeless Joe’s has also been erected on the property.  The signage for the Bell Tower Shops was not yet changed at the time of this newsletter and from those two main streets, it may still indicate the Crowne Plaza.

The remodeling plans also called for a re-do of Shoeless Joe’s, but a decision was made to wait on those changes until after the Fantasy Camp.  Something to look forward to in 2025!

IMPORTANT

REMINDER!!

We’re less than a week away!

A quick reminder to all of our veteran campers, as well as those first year campers that were unable to join us in 2023, but had their uniforms mailed to them, that you need to bring your current uniform with you to camp.

We have also been asked by some members of our 2024 rookie class, about what they need to pack.  Since our reunion game was rained out and we were unable to issue any fitted hats, socks or belts  back in September, all of those items will be waiting for you in the locker room here in Ft Myers.

You’ll need to bring your glove, cleats (steel or molded are fine), a protective cup (if you wear one), and any garments you wear under your uniform (T-Shirts, compression shorts, jock strap, etc.)

We’ve also received questions as to which former players will be on this year’s Pro Staff.  They include: Bert Blyleven, Kent Hrbek, Frank Viola, Ron Gardenhire, Jeff Reardon, Tim Laudner, Tom Brunansky, Glen Perkins, Al Newman, Gene Larkin, Juan Berenguer, Matt LeCroy, JC Romero, Juan Rincon, Toby Gardenhire, Steve Braun, Phil Roof, Tommy Watkins, Devin Smeltzer, Dick Stigman, Stu Cliburn, Milt Cuyler, Brian Dinkelman and Ramon Borrego.  We’re happy to report that Twins TV voice for years, Dick Bremer, is back in 2024!

Dress for the evening banquet is casual, with the exception of the final Saturday night Award Banquet where we recommend business casual as we’ll be taking pictures.

Registration for this year’s camp will begin at 3:00 PM at the DoubleTree.  Looking forward to seeing you there!
