Time to Register for the 2024 Target Field Reunion Event!

This Year’s Event the First Ever Under the Lights!

The 2024 Reunion Game & Post Game Gathering set for

Friday, September 20th, 2024.

It’s hard to believe that another summer is slipping away quickly.  As we approach the Fall of 2024, we are reminded that it’s time for another Twins Camp Reunion Event!

We’re ready to start hearing from eligible campers and reserving your spot on this year’s roster. Any participant in this past January’s camp, any new “rookie” camper registered for 2025, as well as any camper from the 2023 camp that has never had the opportunity to play at Target Field is invited to join us.

We are asking those eligible campers who plan on being with us to please email us at info@yuratwin.com, if you plan on joining us on the 20th.  Even if you had already informed us in a prior conversation on email of your intentions to be with us, we’d respectfully ask you to send us a confirmation email.

When you do email us, please indicate the following information:

1. Your intention to play in one of the reunion

    games.

2. Whether or not you plan on joining us for the

“After Gathering” at the Sports Page in

    Bloomington, MN.

3. If the answer to question #2 is “yes” – will you be

accompanied by your spouse or significant other.

A shot from the Sports Page gathering in 2022.

We will again have a “temporary” uniform for any 2025 rookie campers that will be attending. If you’re a first year camper, you’ll need to bring your glove, cleats and any protective gear (we’ll have catcher’s gear provided – guys, a protective cup is highly recommended), and whatever you will wear under your uniform.  We will be sending out complete details in another newsletter as we get closer to the event.

The 2023 reunion event was the first in our history to be washed out by rain – the first time ever.  The Twins have provided us with a rain date the following day, Saturday, September 21st, should we experience rain this year.

We Look Forward to Seeing Many of You on the 20th and Another Successful Reunion Event!

Leverage the Technology That the Pros Use For Your Hitting and/or Pitching!

The Minnesota Twins Fantasy Camp is thrilled to announce a new partnership with Sequence Biomechanics Performance Lab to allow our campers to utilize today’s technology to enhance their personal baseball skill set.

Thanks to Justin Seurer for his work in putting this exciting opportunity together.  TJ Galeniti, a Stillwater native, is the owner of Sequence Biolabs (https://www.sequencelab.com).  Sequence specializes in evaluating the motion of a hitter’s swing or a pitchers motion.  His services have been used by several Division I College teams as well as by Denard Span and Tony Batista at their clinics.  Current Twins relief pitcher Randy Dobnak and former Twins, Zack Littel, have worked with Biolabs.

TJ has graciously agreed to provide a one-time discount to our campers to provide them the same type of professional analysis done for today’s MLB players.  The deeply discounted rate for a maximum of 12 lucky campers, is $300 (with $100 due at time of registration). Your work with Biolabs will include a 15 minute “live” slot with warm up inside a cages area. TJ will then set up a a post event Zoom session with each athlete to ensure appropriate time to review the workout  Again, there are only 12 spots available for this one-time opportunity.

Those twelve sessions will be held on Saturday, September 14th.  So you may want to check your calendar to see if that day works for you.  That Saturday is the only day available for this offer.

Approximately 50 Twins Camp family Members Turn Out for the First Ever “Camp Rage in the Cage”

Beautiful Canary Stadium in Sioux Falls, SD.

The first of what may become an annual event, was held June 16th – 18th, at the Sioux Falls Canaries Stadium in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.  Approximately 50 or so Camp family members were on hand to watch the Canaries square off with the Fargo-Morehead Redhawks on Sunday evening.  While at the game, campers were treated to a night in the Owner’s Suite and complimentary food and beverage.  The game was a thriller as well with the hometown 9 coming up a bit short.

The following day, a morning of rain and ominous skies gave way to a short window to allow campers to play an exhibition game inside the stadium.  The coaching staff from the Canaries were on hand to serve as our Pro Staff members in making a quick draft and then it was time for the first pitch.

Unfortunately, our window was smaller than first assumed and we were only able to get in a couple of innings before a torrential rain fell, washing out any chance of play.  The following evening, Twins Camp Pro Staff member and Chicago Dogs Pitching Coach, Stu Cliburn was in town to square off with the Canaries.  Another great game and it was great to see Stu work his magic with his squad.

Special thanks to Brian Slipka, Canaries owner and Brian Jamros, Canaries president for the incredible hospitality extended us in Sioux Falls.  We’re confident we speak for everyone in attendance when we say we certainly hope to be back!

Sioux Falls resident and Camp HOF member, Bob Lange gets set to begin the opening inning to 2024 Camp Rookie, Jake Salter.

And here’s some more good news! As we go to press, the Canaries are atop of their divsion in the American Association League and appear headed to the playoffs!

Congratulations to the both of the Brians!

Twins Camp HOF Member Earns “Street Creds” with Canadian Relatives!

Barry and Beth Karon pose outside of Justin Morneau Park in Vancouver, BC.

As many of you may know, our favorite Cardiologist, Dr. Barry Karon, retired last year and he and wife Beth are enjoying the chance to do a bit more traveling.

Earlier this year the pair was in Vancouver, BC, where understandably, Twins legend and BC native, Justin Morneau is a bit of baseball celebrity.  So much so that his old home town named a local baseball park after him.

Beth and Barry were visiting their cousins, who they hadn’t seen since the 1990’s,and who are also avid baseball fans.  Their cousins were enthralled to learn that Beth and Barry are from Minnesota because Justin Morneau played most of his career with the Twins. They also said that Justin’s Dad was a legend in the area for all of his work with baseball youth.

After the Karon’s had visited and taken the photo above, Barry emailed his cousins and told them he’d show Justin the photo since their seats were right in front of the TV broadcast booth where Justin frequently works.

Well it appears that Barry’s reputation preceeded him as his northern cousins were, shall we say, a bit incredulous.

Seeking to redeem his stellar reputation, Barry embarked on a plan to put any doubt to rest.  His proof was the photo of Justin holding their photo at a Twins game earlier this year.

Well played Dr. Karon!

During another of their travels, this one back in 2017, the Karon’s came across the piece pictured below that was being displayed in the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City.

We know it may be hard to make out, but there are four baseball cards arranged in this piece.  The cards included: Yogi Berra, Sandy Koufax, Roger Maris and our own Dick Stigman!

Upon seeing the photo that the Karon’s shared, Stan commented that Stig was certainly in good company in that piece.  To which Barry responded,”I would argue that Berra, Maris and Koufax were the ones in good company”.

Again Dr. Karon, well played!

Thanks for sharing Doc!

2025 Twins Camp Sold Out & Rooms Are Again An Issue.

Just a quick reminder that the 2025 Twins Camp is at a “Sold Out” position.  If you have an interest in joining us in 2025, there is always an outside chance of unforeseen cancellations. We have developed a waiting list for anyone that would like to be included on that list.  However, we should tell you that cancellations are running behind prior years.  If you are currently registered and know now that you will be unable to attend, we certainly appreciate your contacting us as soon as possible.

If you are interested in the 2025 camp, please just email us and we will add you to that list.  Campers will be taken in the order that they have responded.  The earlier we are contacted – the better your chances.

We’re also facing a shortage of available rooms at the camp hotels.  If you have other housing options, or would consider sharing a room next January, please reach out to us to discuss what options might be available. If you’re coming with a group of friends and want to search for VRBO to accommodate your group, it may save you money and give you a larger living space.

Thank You!

It Truly is a Small, Small World!

Scott Morvig and son David pose with Twins Camp Staff Alum, Jonathan Braun.

During the final game of the recent Twins-Mets series in New York, Camp Staff member, Jon Braun thought he recognized the folks sitting directly in front of him at the game.  It turns out he did! Jonathan, a New York resident, was on hand to watch the Twins and ran into Mo and his family as they were in town for another summer baseball adventure prior to the start of school.

Glad you guys were able to say hello!
