Tommy Watkins

Fort Myers native, Tommy Watkins was selected by the Minnesota Twins in the 38th round of the 1998 MLB amateur draft and quickly became a fan favorite of the Twins High A Ft Myers Miracle.  It was during his time with the MIracle where Tommy honed his skills as a utility player.  During the 2002 season with the Miracle, he appeared at shortstop (41 times), third base (33 times), second base (19 times) and all three of the outfield positions.

Tommy made his MLB debut at the Metrodome with the Twins on August 10, 2007.  While playing at Rochester with the Twins triple A Red Wings, he received the call that he was going to the big leagues.  Then Red Wings Manager, Stan Cliburn commented “The news that Watkins was being called up set up a celebration in our clubhouse, because of everyone’s love, passion, and respect that they had for Tommy”.  According to Cliburn, it was one of the most emotional call-ups he had ever been involved with.

Tommy continues to work as a coach with the Twins minor league system, last year with the Chattanooga Lookouts, the Twins double-A affiliate.

We are thrilled to have Tommy as a member of our Fantasy Camp Staff!
