Matt Guerrier joined the Twins Camp Staff in 2025. A native of Cleveland, Ohio, he was drafted by the Kansas City Royals in 33rd round of the 1996 MLB draft, but opted to attend Kent State University. In 1999, he was drafted in the 10th round by the Chicago White Sox. In 2002 he was traded to the Pirates before being selected off waivers by the Twins in November in 2023. He made his MLB debut vs. the Montreal Expos on June 17, 2004. He picked up his first win in the Big Leagues on September 23rd of 2006 vs. the Orioles. By 2007 Matt had made himself and mainstay in the Twins bullpen, and when setup man, Pat Neshek was lost to injury early in the 2008 season, he assumed that role. He made major strides in his career in 2009, posting a 5-1 record with one save and an ERA of 2.36 in his 79 relief appearances. He also the AL that season with 33 holds. In 2010, he signed a three year contract with the Los Angeles Dodgers. In 2011 he led the Dodgers in appearances with 70, the 5th straight season where he appeared in 70+ games. That season he became the first pitcher in MLB history to record at least one save in 6 consecutive seasons. Matt made his final appearance on July 22nd of 2014 as a Minnesota Twin.
