Steve Braun was drafted by the Minnesota Twins in the 10th round of the 1966 MLB draft. He did not play baseball in 1968 or 1969, as he was on baseball's military list from September of 1967, until September of 1969. He made his Major League debut with the Twins on April 6, 1971, and played his final professional game as a member of the World Champion St. Louis Cardinals in 1982, when they defeated the Milwaukee Brewers. Steve is just one of a handful of Major League players to have recorded 100 or more pinch hits. After his playing career ended, he became a hitting coach, working for the Cardinals Major League staff in 1990, and spending 12 years (1991-2002) as a minor league coach and hitting instructor for the Boston Red Sox.
