Salas

Mark Salas was drafted out of high school by the St. Louis Cardinals in the 18th round of the 1979 Major League Draft.  He made his MLB debut with the Cards on June 19, 1984.  Following that season he was selected by the Twins in the 1985 Rule 5 draft. Upon his arrival in Minnesota, he quickly became the team's starting catcher.  He hit his first career homerun against Baseball Hall of Fame member, Don Sutton on April 27, 1985. That season he finished with a .300 batting average and 41 runs batted in.  Mark was traded by the Twins in June of 1987 for Yankee knuckleball specialist, Phil Niekro.  Mark continued his career with the White Sox, Indians and Tigers prior to retiring in following the 1991 season.  Welcome to our team Mark!
