Al Newman was the key utility infielder for both of Minnesota's World Series Championship teams.  Al was a close friend of Twins and National Baseball Hall of Fame member, Kirby Puckett.  Known more for his glove than his bat, Al did have two hits in World Series action, including a triple. His finest season in the Big Leagues came in 1989 with the Twins when he stole 25 bases, collected 113 hits with 38 RBI, scored 62 runs and hit for a .253 average.  Al continues to be active in baseball as a college coach and working with young players throughout the upper Midwest.
